Now, let’s celebrate Hollywood’s best portrayals of patriotism – with America’s Most Patriotic Movies Ever!

In this installment, we look at No. 9 of America’s Most Patriotic Movies EVER – The Longest Day.

  1. The Longest Day (1962)

Nothing encapsulates the Greatest Generation’s defeat of tyranny more than D-Day – the storming of Normandy in the largest seaborne invasion in history.  At nearly three hours, in a historic-feeling black and white, The Longest Day is the most ambitious telling of that heroic episode.

A Best-Picture nominee and recipient of top grades at RottenTomatoes.com, The Longest Day could hardly have been better timed – long enough after the war to serve as a reinforcing reminder of the valor of the Allied forces, but soon enough to have involved actual veterans of the conflict – including some of the big-name actors.

Talk about Independence Day! It was one of the most fateful days in human history – and this movie was fated to tell its story.

And how perfect that it featured John Wayne!

And that’s why The Longest Day is No. 9 on BestEverBuzz’s list of the Top 10 Most Patriotic Movies Ever.
